Length: go way longer than you are tall, the bigger the surf, the longer the board
Width: what you can easily fit under your arm / shoulder width
Bottom Contours: Depends how you want it to handle; the looser the more of a v, the more stable the closer to a single
Rocker: Performance
With extra width and volume through the chest area, this board gains easy access into bigger waves, keeping momentum going and cushioning any chop at speed, whilst the gunnyfied round-tail smooths out turns; adding control at high speed.
For bigger waves a v bottom contour with a deep single running either side through the back half of the board helps cut through chop at high speed and allows the board a more fluid feel.
Alternatively; A single concave under the nose and chest area passing to a flat through the centre and a v through the tail will provide stability whist not being to stiff.
A performance Rocker will aid control through turns at high speed and allow the board to turn a tighter radius.
All boards are hand shaped by myself (Chris Barker) to the highest standard and glassed using what i consider the best materials available on the market and finished to a matt finish. There is no regard to time; they are a labour of love!
